Married to Earl Cecil Hall, Jr., then to Oscar Ballard, then to Rollie Emmett McClanahan.

Oretha Baker Hall McClanahan, 93, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord Feb. 20, 2004, after a short illness. She died at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Sarton, W.Va., the daughter of the late Frank and Nanny Baker. She was a homemaker and spent her life devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollie McClanahan; her mother and father; sister, Myrtle Ballard; and brother, Oscar Baker. She is survived by her brother, John Baker of Beckley, W.Va.; daughter, Leah Miller and husband, Jim, of Elkview; two sons, Alvin Hall and wife, Sharon, of McLean, Va., Keith Hall and wife, Judy, of Charleston. "Granny" as she was affectionately called was blessed with seven grandchildren, Ron, Rick and Jimmy Miller, all of Elkview, Chaunette Hall Thomas of Hamilton, Va., Dale Hall of Warrentown, Va., Lisa Hall Edens of Sissonville and Mark Hall of Given, W.Va. Oretha also lived to enjoy 10 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Sierra Miller, Brandi and Chris Thomas, Stephanie and Shane Hall, Jessica and Zachary Edens, Madison and Haleigh Hall. Also surviving is her longtime caregiver and friend, Neda Fizer of Charleston, who the family gives their love and undying gratitude for the years of loving care she gave to Granny. Her last years were made much more comfortable by Neda's care and the family is forever in her debt. The family and Neda would also like to thank Hospice for their kindness and care. Their services were invaluable during the last few weeks of Oretha's care. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Mount Alexander United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sarton, with the Rev. Patty Adkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc., 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064, or Mount Alexander United Methodist Church, Sarton. Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston is in charge of arrangements. We will always cherish our loving memories of you and miss you, "Granny."
