Eugenia was born in Ashley on July 23, 1940; she was a daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Shisko) Olkowski. She attended Ashley schools and was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry.
Most recently, she was employed as a nurse's aide for Serino's Nurses Registry for home health service. She was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a member of the parish Wilkes-Barre Sisterhood. She enjoyed drawing, gardening, needlework, cooking and playing bingo.
Surviving is her husband of 42 years of marriage, Henry S. Peshala, at home; daughter, Christine and her husband, Douglas of Lake Silkworth; grandchildren, Douglas II, Nicholas and Gregory; sister, Mary Ann Linski, Norwich, Conn.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 North Main Street, Ashley, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Seneca Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Basil Micek and the Rev. Michael Lepa, officiating. Interment will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Parastas will be held today at 7:30 p.m. Panikhida will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
