Donald George Folmar

Services for Donald George Folmar, 75, of Tyler will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell McRight officiating. A private interment will be held under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Folmar passed away July 11, 2010, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

He was born May 19, 1935, in Dallas to the late Gilbert George and Evelyn Delilah Folmar. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. Mr. Folmar had a long career in the printing business. He began working at the Jacksonville Daily Progress in 1949 when he was in the sixth grade. He started selling newspapers and continued on to work as a printer for 20 years. In 1969, he joined the Tyler Morning Telegraph and worked as a printer for 20 years before his retirement. Mr. Folmar was a member of the Sunset Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He was known for being a quiet and dependable gentleman.

Mr. Folmar is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lynda Folmar of Tyler; niece, Kelley Smithson of Tyler; nephew, Darien Folmar of Bullard; and aunt, Opal Folmar of Jacksonville.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.

The family would like to express thanks to Encompass Home Health, Hospice Home Care and Hospice of East Texas HomePlace for their kind and compassionate care during Mr. Folmar's illness.
