Services for Uncle George Catherwood Are Held at Alfalfa
Funeral services for Uncle George Catherwood were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Baptist church at Alfalfa with rev. R.E. Harrison, pastor of the Methodist church, preaching the funeral sermon. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery.
George Washington Catherwood was born March 30, 1852, in Indiana, died Tuesday, April 12, at the age of 92 years and 12 days. He was one of a family of 13 children. He came to Oklahoma from Portland, Ore., and for the past 35 years he has made his home with his sisters, Mrs. Emma Stephens, of Alfalfa. He had been a member of the Methodist church 65 years. In recent years his failing health prevented his regular attendance at church services.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Stephens and Mrs. Mary Swan, Mill City, Ore.; a nephew, V.W. Stephens of Alfalfa, and a niece, Mrs. Myrtle Martin, Weslaco, Texas.
