Ralph Gordon Stokes, 78, an engineer who worked for the Navy and firms in Maryland, died of an aneurysm Jan. 20 at a hospital in Deltona, Fla. A resident of Deltona, he moved to Florida from Derwood after he retired in 1972. Mr. Stokes was a native of Bloomfield, N.J. He served in the Navy during World War II. He began his career in the Washington area in 1943 as an electronics engineer with the Naval Research Laboratory. He later worked for the Naval Ordnance Laboratory, Vitro Laboratories and a firm in Annapolis, ARINC. His interests included restoring electronic organs. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Stokes of Deltona; a son, Ralph Gordon Stokes Jr. of Columbia; a brother; a sister; and two grandchildren. A son, Paul Douglas Stokes, died in 1968.
