Death Claims O.N.Andrews

Veteran Land Cruiser and Explorer Passes Away Surrounded by Family, Aged Seventy-six Years.

O.N. Andrews, veteran land cruiser and explorer and a resident of Ontonagon for the past thirty-three years, is dead. The end came at 5:25 o'clock Thursday afternoon, at the bedside being the immediate members of the family. For the past eight years Mr. Andrews health had been failing due to a complicated kidney trouble, but he had a wonderful vitality and in spite of the continued inroads which the disease made upon his constitution, he was confined to the bed only two weeks.

Born in Cattaragus county, New York, July 25, 1830, Mr. Andrews spent the greater portion of his life in the woods following his vocation of land cruising and exploring. When a young man he located in the southern part of this state and resided there until thirty-three years ago, when he came to Ontonagon.

Mr. Andrews was twice married. His first wife died in a few years after the nuptial knot had been tied and in September 1862, he took as his helpmate Mary Ann Simpson, who survives, together with three children: Mrs D. P. Russ, Albert and Robert Andrews, all residents of Ontonagon. Another daughter, Mrs. Frank Clark, died nearly two years ago.

The funeral will be held from the family home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. F. G. Westphal of the Presbyterian church, will official.
Interment will be made in the westside cemetery.

Mr. Andrews was well-known throughout the county, especially among older residents and while he lived ore than the alloted time according to biblical injunction, still, his death brought much sorrow to his family and large circle of friends.
