Mary Agnes McMahon Pagel was born to Henry Joseph McMahon and Helena O'Leary McMahon on May 30, 1906. She was the oldest of seven children, three boys and four girls: Brian, Mary, Alice, Henry, Helena,Josephine and Kevin.
Mary was a avid reader her whole life and interested in life time learning. She attended St Brigit Grade School and St Johns Academy in Indianapolis and business school. She was a civil service employee for 41 years at the Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic. She retired in 1966.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St Luke Catholic Church. She was a member of the Guardian Angel Guild and Newman Guild.
She was a family treasure and loved by all. She had a beautiful vocie and was known for her "scatting". Her parakeet "Prettie Birdie Pagel" who talked also would sing along with her.
She married Harold Wm Pagel in the Chapel at Fort Benjamin Harrison. They were married 54 years until her death.
