He was wounded on the line of retreat from Gettysburg and was captured in the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse on 5-12-1864. He was a Prisoner of War at Pt. Lookout, Maryland, from 5-18-1864 to 7-30-1864 and at Elmira, New York from 8-2-1864 until his death on 2-16-1865.
