Historical Tidbits
May 11, 1915 --- COUNCIL KICKS ON CARNIVAL'S COMING --- Despite Objections, However, License Is Granted For Show -- The bringing of a carnival to Glassport by the fire department precipitated a hot argument at the meeting of borough council last night.. The argument started when Councilman Pforsich offered a motion to grant the carnival company a license. The company is already on the grounds. The point was raised that the company would have to pay license. The ordinances were looked up and Solicitor M. M. Edmundson decided that the carnival came under the head of the ordinance and it would be necessary to pay a license of $20 for the week.

November 9, 1915 --- COUNCIL TAKES THE BLAME FOR IRREGULARITIES ---Solicitor M. M. Edmundson was opposed to this hasty proceeding. He cited the case of the Bellevue water company, which had raised its rates against the protest of the consumers. The matter had been taken into court and Judge Evans decided it was a case for the public service commission to decide. The solicitor was informed that a copy of the franchise ordinance had been sent to the gas company and he was hopeful of having the matter patched up without taking drastic measures. Mr. Goslee withdrew his motion and the solicitor will try and arrange for a meeting of the gas company officials with counsel on Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock.
