The Davidson family was quite extensive in the South-Eastern part of Van Zandt Co. Archie, a member of this family,lived near Ben Wheeler and was considered a thrifty and progressive farmer.

William Davidson, Tennessee,(Frontier Red Hill Cemetery) was his grandfather and John Wesley (Frontier Red Hill Cemetery) was his father who lived in Florida and Georgia. His grandmother was Mary Kinsley Davidson (Frontier Red Hill Cemetery). His mother was Emaline Spence (Frontier Red Hill Cemetery). John and Emaline were married in 1842 and were parents of nine children. Archie,(perhaps Archabald) was born in Florida and moved with the family to Van Zandt Co. early on where he attended local schools. He married Eugania Hayes of Smith Co. in 1878; they had two children: Charles Elmer, Colfax Cemetery, Van Zandt Co. Tx. and Christine Marie, burial site unknown. After Eugania's death in 1881 he married Susan Ann Johnson of Henderson Co.Tx. they had an infant son placed in Prairie Springs Cemetery.

Archie was a steward in the Methodist Church, a school trustee and Van Zandt Co. land owner, known to be public spirited and interested in the development of the area, having been involved in efforts to secure a Rail-Road through his section of the county.
