Mary Jane Snodgrass & Hezekia Morgan came to Illionis (Coles County) approximately 1860, because of Hezekiah's bitterness about the Civil War. However, Hezekiah did serve in the Union Army, entering from Cumberland County. Because of his feelings, he served as a water carrier. His health was broken during the war and he died of consumption, upon his return. He died Dec. 16, 1874 at the age of 38. Hezekiah is buried in the Old Gordon Cemetery where Abraham Lincoln's parents are buried. Mary Jane is buried at the New Gordon Cemetery.
