Samuel was the son of Robey and Hester Tucker. He was a carpenter by trade. He migrated from Deleware to North Carolina, after the Civil War on to Illinois, Kansas and finally California. He married Nancy Ann Allison in 1825. she passed away in 1875 while they were living in Illinois. They were the parents of Rebecca Clementine, Benjamin Thomas, John L.,Ann Caroline, Joseph Skidmore, Mary Ann, and Rachel Elizabeth.
