Services were conducted from Mims Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Magee on January 17, 2008. Burial followed in Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Laura) Barnes of Waynesboro and Donald N. (Shelagh) Barnes of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Kathryn (James) Yelverton of Magee; brothers Carl Holyfield of Magee, Clyde Holyfield of Coffeeville and Tommy Holyfield of Mendenhall; a sister, Frankie Contas of New York; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank E. and Etta Moore Holyfield; her husband, Abert Barnes; a sister, Willie Levrentz; and two brothers.
