Obituary - Annie "Polly" Gibson, 78, of Charlottesville, died December 6, 2003, in a local hospital. Born March 31, 1925, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Walton Batten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Batten, Vernon Batten, Jack Batten and William Batten. Polly was employed by the David Carr family, whom she loved as her own, for over 50 years. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Gibson and his wife Thelma of Charlottesville; a grandson, Shannon Gibson and his wife Nichole of Palmyra; two great grandchildren, Cody and Logan; two brothers, John Batten of White Hall and Herbert Batten and his wife Peachie of Dyke; a sister-in-law, Lucille Batten of Charlottesville; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Reverend Pat Mellott officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Teague Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3042-D Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Friends may sign the guest register at teaguefuneralhome.com
