Geraldine Ruby Marney
Geraldine R. Marney of Southampton, wife of the late Alden C. Marney passed away September 20, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Bates Settlement, NB in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Worden and Elizabeth (Bates) Stairs. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Ladies Circle as well as past organist at Campbell Settlement Baptist Church. Geraldine enjoyed quilting, gardening, walking and cross-country skiing, being one of the senior members of Nackawic cross-country ski club.

Geraldine is survived by four daughters, Jean Stairs Logan (Neil), Linda Ayer (Ken), Rowena Simpson (Bob) and Barbara Rae (Aunden), ten grandchildren, Tim Stairs (Heather), Matt Stairs (Lisa), Martha Cormier (Maro), James Ayer, Chris Simpson (Mia), Rob Simpson (Holly), Andrea Vance (Blain), Darin Rae (Nicole), Janet Scott (Rob), Dana Rae (Krista); twenty great grandchildren, Brodie, Quinn, Nicole, Alicia and Chandler Stairs, Alyssa and Brendan Cormier, Emma, Will, Abby, Ava and Thomas Simpson, Jaimi and Laura Vance, Delaney, Adam, Ethan and Katherine Rae, Cameron and Raegan Scott; three sisters, Margaret Daniels and Shirley Drost, both of Hartfield and Madeline McCutcheon (Ralph), Southampton; a sister-in-law, Helen Stairs, Prince William; a brother-in-law, Glenn Marney (Evelyn), Waasis; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 1995; four sisters, Edna Keetch, Nellie Bragdon, Louella Bragdon and Alma Stairs; three brothers, Harry, Barry and John Stairs.

Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Kirk United Church, 29 Landegger Drive, Nackawic on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jennifer Brown officiating. Interment in Otis Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Stairs, Matt Stairs, James Ayer, Chris Simpson, Rob Simpson, Darin Rae and Dana Rae.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Geraldine, the family has suggested the Canadian Red Cross or Canadian Cancer Society.
