LeRoy E. "Dit" Dir, 68, Lee's Summit, died Oct. 29, 1993, at Lee's Summit Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lansford-Cox Chapel; burial in Lee's Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice. Mr. Dir was born in Passaic, Mo., and lived in this area most of his life. He was a former maintenance supervisor for the AlliedSignal Aerospace Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lavielle Dir of the home; four sons, Gary Dir and Joe Dir, both of Lee's Summit, John Dir, Olathe, and Jim Dir, Blue Springs; two daughters, Carolyn Turkington and Jeanne Hovermale, both of Lee's Summit; his mother, Frances Dir, Lee's Summit; a brother, Wilbur Kenneth Dir, Dallas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
