Eli Smith, 83, one of the pioneer residents of this community, passed away at his home east of town, yesterday afternoon at 12:15.
He had been in failing health for some time, but his condition was not considered serious and news of his passing came as a shock to his relatives and friends. He had been a resident of this community for more than sixty years, residing on a farm east of Frank- fort, Kansas.
Besides his wife, Selma; he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lorena Anderson, Bigelow, Kansas, Mrs. Floy Bullock of Fostoria, Kansas, Mrs. Verna Lohmann and Mrs. Maude Reynolds, Haxtum, CO.; one son, Carl Smith, of the home.
Funeral services were held at the home
on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
with Reverend W.D. McMullen officiating.
Burial was in the Morrison Cemetery,
Vliets, Kansas.
