Raymond was born 3 miles North of Brashear, Mo., on his Parents farm. He worked with his family in different family owned grocery stores in N.E. Mo. He was Captain of Kahoka High School's Basketball team. He served his country in W.W.II in the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater, specifically England, Holland, and Germany. On May 28, 1950 he married Geneva Lee Stanley, of Kirksville. Together they moved out to Mesa, AZ. where their daughter, Joyce Black was born in 1953. In 1956 they moved back to Mo. In 1957 their son, Paul Black(named after his Grand-Dad Paul Black) was born. In June of 1957 they all moved back out to Mesa, Az. Raymond worked in a local grocery store, and then in the U.S.Postal Service, first as a Mail carrier, then as a Rural Route Carrier. During this time he built 2 large cabins all by himself, in Pine, AZ. He was Grand-dad to Morgan Wood, Steven Black, Jonathan Black, Georgina Black, and Allison Wood. He was Great-Grand-dad to Victoria Young, Hannah Beck, Johnny Wood, Kenneth Kreitzburg, and Kale Wood.
