Wilson Monroe Caddess
Wilson Monroe Caddess, 80, of Vaiden, died of a stroke Tuesday, November 18, 1997, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson.
Mr. Caddess, a retired Superintendent of Utilities for the City of Vaiden, was a U.S. Army Veteran World War II. He was a member of the Winona VFW Post and the Winona American Legion Post. He was the widower of the late Louise Hambrick Caddess. They were married from 01/06/1945 until her death on 12/18/1979. Mr. Caddess was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard T. Caddess.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 22, at Oliver Chapel with the Rev. Leon Holly officiating. Burial was in Winona Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Caddess is survived by one brother, James Harvey Caddess of Bryan, Texas; one step-brother, James Collins of Winona; and two nephews.
Pallbearers were Ocie Shirley, James Gerrish, Ron Collins, Christopher Miller, Mike Collins, and Larry Collins.

Wilson Monroe Caddess (06/18/1917 – 11/18/1997), was originally from Doddsville, MS, but moved to Winona at an early age. Louise (Aunt "E") worked at the Chenille Plant, was a homemaker, active in community organizations, and kept children in Vaiden throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Louise and Wilson had no children.
After serving in the United States Army Civilian Conservation Corps and 840th Aviation Engineers, Wilson (Uncle "Oogie") owned Caddess' Radio and TV Repair Shop in Vaiden, and was the Fire Chief and Water Superintendent of Vaiden for over 40 years. He was 80 years, 5 months, and 0 days old at his death.
Uncle Oogie was a man of wit, and was always one to help another in a time of need, often forsaking his own needs to help a friend. I am lucky to have known him, and will always love him.
Wilson and Louise Caddess were my second family, and were always there for me. I miss them dearly.
