WOMBLE
The body of Pvt. Claude J. Womble will arrive in Cleveland at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday for interment in homeland soil Thursday. Pvt. Womble was a member of C Company, 320th Regiment, 35th Division, and was killed in action near St. Lo, France, July 26, 1944. In addition to his wife, the former Anna B. Clayton, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Effie Patterson of Cleveland and Mrs. Cora Hampton of Gruetli, Tenn.; two brothers, Clarence and Carl Womble of Cleveland. Following arrival in Cleveland, the body will be taken to the home, 4134 Church Street, to remain until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30 p. m. at the South Cleveland Methodist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. L. J. Turner, and the Rev. Lester Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, with military honors by members of the American Legion, VFW and national guard. McLain & Son directing. (Obit provided by his niece, Cindy Womble Billman)
