Isa (Proctor) Adams was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth "Betsey" Proctor. She was the 1st wife of Rev. Ezra Adams. They were married June 1814. Rev. Adams was a minister in the Genesee Conference and Canadian Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Wesleyan Methodist Church of Canada. He died November 29, 1871.

BACKGROUND:
Henry Proctor (July 21, 1770-ca1827) and his first wife, Betsey (died ca1811) arrived with their four children, Henry Jr., Isa, Edwin and an unidentified female, about May 1, 1801 north of Toronto. They were among 27 Quaker families recruited to come to Ontario and to establish a Quaker community.
Henry Proctor applied to the government for a grant of land in the Upper Canada Land Petitions p. 5/6. "The petition of Henry Proctor late of the state of Vermont but now of the township in which his lot lies in the said province [Upper Canada]." He received his grant as shown in the government land records. "Rec'd April 1, 1801: Received for 400 acres. Henry Proctor is a member of the group led by Timothy Rogers. He has four children and is worth $1000." This property was in East Gwillumbury township, Lot 100, Con. 1.
Isa, the second child, married Rev. Ezra Adams in June 1814 and they had seven children in Ontario.

In the Drayton Advocate of Thursday, Jan. 5, 1922 a large article was written about Rev. Ezra Adams, following an address given in Drayton on Jan. 1 by Rev. W.W. Prudham in connection with an historical night held in the Methodist church there. It was stated that in the 1850s the body of Isa Adams was removed from her burial location in Colborne Indian Cemetery, Chippewa Band on the Muncey Reservation in Caradoc township and reinterred in the Drayton Pioneer Cemetery (now termed abandoned). The tombstone photo in this memorial is proof of her original burial in Colborne Cemetery. A tombstone that was erected for her was left there when she was moved to Drayton. The reason for her original burial in the Muncey cemetery is because her husband was the missionary minister for the Muncey Mission at the time of her death, seven days after the birth of her 7th child, John, who died five weeks after her.
The inscription on the tombstone reads - "In the triumph of faith and full assurance of the hope of life eternal calmly trusting in Jesus whom she loved and served from childhood."
