GIRARD, GA – April 8 – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Blocker Odom, wife of Samuel J. Odom, will be held this morning at 10:30 from the Bethany Methodist church with Rev. Roy Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Mrs. Odom, who died this morning in the 77th year of her age, was born and reared in Burke County and throughout her lifetime was a useful citizen and was beloved by all.

She was a devout member of the Bethany M.E. church and was active in the religious and civic affairs of this community.

Honorary pallbearers for her funeral are: C.E. McGregor, B.M. Dixon, J.W. Mobley, Dr. W.W. Hillis, J.R. Odom, V.E.Glenn, A.B.Daniel and J.D.Lovett.

Active pallbearers: M.B.Hillis, H.V. Odom, Eugene McGregor, T.S. Hillis, A.J. Brigham, and W.K. Godbee.

Mrs. Odom is survived by her husband; one son, H.B. Odom, of Girard; four daughters, Mrs. Mamie Odom Bonnell, Sardis, Mrs. S.R. Chance, Perkins, Mrs. N.N. Mallard and Mrs. J.B. Buxton, both of Girard; son-in-law, Grady Mobley, Waynesboro; two brothers, W.W. Blocker, Savannah, and P.B. Blocker, Waynesboro; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
