Franklin Leo Agee Sr., 69, of Stanley, N.C., died Sept. 13, 2009.

He was born in Axton to Roy Agee and Bell Lankford Agee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hopkins.

Agee retired from J.A. Jones Construction Co. He was a member and deacon at Craig Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Peggy Harmon Agee; two daughters, Leona Hester and Stacie Everlein, both of Stanley; a son, Franklin Leo Agee Jr. of Stanley; four sisters, Bea Furr of Monroe, N.C., Doris Wilson of Axton, Margaret Riggs of Martinsville and Patsy Hodges of Ridgeway; three brothers, Leonard Agee of Ridgeway and Larry Agee and Ted Ray Agee, both of Axton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Sept. 16 at Craig Memorial Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, N.C.
