Joe retired from the United States Navy Seabees as a chief after 27 years service. He enlisted when he was 18 years old and while in the Navy served in Guam, Spain, Philippines and Okinawa Diego Garcia, Puerto Rico and Honduras.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Daniel Joyce Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Renelda Barba Joyce; two sons, Joseph Joyce and Brandon Joyce; mother and stepfather, Ann Greenwood Joyce Cooper and John A. Cooper; and many friends, aunts and uncles.
Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Franklin Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Agee officiating. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Va.
