L V Thorne,87, of Ona,WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 17,1994 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday,April 19, at 2:30 p.m. at Heck Funeral Home,Milton, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park. He was born in Ona on Nov.22,1906,a son of the late William Vermont and Maggie Mitchell Thorne. Shorty was a member of Beulah Ann Baptist Church,a member of OddFellows,a retired crane operator for ACF Industries,Huntington,and a veteran of World War II,serving with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Landis Thorne and Ernest Sarno. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Alice Luellen Thorne;three daughters, Mrs. Waynetta Ann Toler of Eden, Ga., Mrs Myrna Stephens of Point Pleasant,WV, and Mrs Sandra Kay Chapman of Ona; one sister, Mrs Helen Holdren of South Charleston,WV;one brother, Robert Sarno of South Bend, Ind.;eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
