Franklin H. "Sonny" Farrell, 86, passed away after a short stay in the Peachtree Hospice of Fort Smith, AR on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. He was born November 15, 1923 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Harold and Anna Ristau Farrell.
He was a lifelong area Warren resident, except for living in Fort Smith the last three years.
Mr. Farrell served in the US Army Pacific Theatre Campaign during WWII during which he received several award medals including the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Later, he worked at the National Forge retiring after 35 years of employment.
After retiring, Frank delivered flowers for Ekey Florist and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and to transport cancer patients. He had a big heart and enjoyed time with his family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the casino.
Surviving are his four children, Cynthia Campbell and husband Frank, Middleburg, FL, Valerie King and husband Brad, Fremont, CA, Marysue See and husband David, and Scott Farrell and wife Heidi, both of Warren, PA; seven grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his companion, Wanda Gooch of Fort Smith, AR.
He is also survived by three sisters, Katherine Johnson, Venice, FL, Irene Reese, Winter Springs, FL, and Yvonne Henderson, Rural Retreat, VA.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jeannette D. Scott Farrell on December 10, 1997; and one sister, Caroline Sitler.
