John Seibel, 89, Long-Time Lodian Taken By Death
John L. Seibel, 89, of 436 Hilborn St. died early Wednesday morning in a local convalescent hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Russia, he came to the United States in 1892. The family settled first in the Dakota area, then moved to Canada and back to the Dakotas. He came to Lodi in 1919 and engaged in farming until 1943 when he went into the real estate business until his retirement in 1952.
He is survived by four sons, Ludwig J. Seibel and Charles J. Seibel of Lodi, Arthur J. Seibel of Roseville and Benjamin J. Seibel of Aptos; seven daughters, Mrs. Bertha Fachner, Mrs. Mary Gibeau and Mrs. Nettie Fleming all of Lodi, Mrs. Esther Reimer of Dinuba, Mrs. Lydia Reis of Oakland, Mrs. E. Leona Nelson of Stockton and Mrs. Martha Blosche of San Jose; two brothers, George Seibel of Lodi and Henry Seibel of Morris, Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Jauck and Elizabeth Seiber of Lodi and Mrs. Emma Reimche of Swift Current, Canada; 27 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. John E. Friesen officiating.
Burial will be in the Lodi Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Lodi Funeral Home.
