Nancy Louisa "Lou" (Hoover) was the daughter of Henry Samuel Hoover and Theresa America (Reagan) Hoover. Lou married four times and outlived all of her husbands: John H. Jones, Robert Smith, William J. Benton and William Pursselley. Note: Cecil T. Purselley/Pursley was also mentioned on his mother's headstone. His last name was spelled "Purselley" on his own headstone and "Pursley" on his mother's headstone. Their last name was spelled several different ways on census records and other documents: Pursley, Purselly, Purselley, Pursselley and Purseelley. According to family folklore the different spellings came about because of differing loyalities during the Civil War.
Her date of death is not on her headstone, but according to her obituary (which I have included), her date of death was June 26, 1940.
