Betty Carter, 63, died at Hamot Medical Center. She was born in St Louis, Mo., the only daughter of the late John Jacob and Verda Mae Hodges-Midkiff.

Mrs Carter worked for Erie Resistor Co., as a housekeeper and later worked at Doctors Osteopathic Hospital. She was affiliated with St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She also had two brothers, Richard W "Dick" Midkiff and John Joseph Midkiff.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell G Carter and is survived by her one daughter.
