Rosanna ("Rosa") Notary was born in 1844 in Italy, probably around the Naples area. In 1867, she married Paul Santopietro. The family immigrated to the United States in 1875, and settled in New York. Sometime before 1890, they relocated to Denver, settling in "Little Italy" in North Denver's Highland neighborhood, where Rosa's brother Michele (Mike) was an influential businessman. Rosa gave birth to eight children, but at least one of them died as an infant or child. She died at the age of 58 in 1903.
