RICHARD THEODORE GATES died Wednesday morning at 2:45 in Boonsboro, after an illness of two weeks, aged 39. Born and reared in Gapland, he resided there most of his life. He was the son of Asbury and Cora (Smith) Gates.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Marguerite (Leggett) Gates; daughter, Mrs. Gerald Hamberg, Trenton, N.J.; and brother, Lee Gates, Keedysville.

Interment in Fairview cemetery, Keedysville.
