Mrs. Susie B. Hodsdon
Hodsdon, 93, formerly of 32 South St., died at a local nursing home late Tuesday after a long illness. She was the widow of Albert E. Hodsdon who died in 1954. She was born in Macwahoc, Sept. 14, 1882, the daughter of Frank and Emma Bowley Kimball. She was educated in the schools of Macwahoc, Kingman and Yarmouth, graduating from Yarmouth High School in 1899. She also attended Bates College. Mrs. Hodsdon taught school for more than 40 years in North Yarmouth, Yarmouth and Cumberland, retiring in 1952 from Cumberland where she had been serving as principal of the Elementary School. She was Mother of Year here in 1962, a member of the First Universalist Church here and served as its treasurer for many years. She was also a life member and past matron of Winnegance Chapter OES of Yarmouth, a charter member of the Yarmouth Firemen's Auxiliary, former member of the Village Improvement Society, retried Teacher's Association, the Afternoon Guild of the church and the Yarmouth Women's Club. She leaves four sons, Arthur K. and Robert J., both of Yarmouth, Albert E. Jr. of Rumford, and Richard H. of Gray; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Lindquist Funeral Home, 37 Portland St., Yarmouth, at 2 p.m. Friday, with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, North Yarmouth.
