Autopsy Shows Heart Attack Caused Death

Joseph B. Alwine, 61, of 1521 10th St., who was found dead on the sidewalk in front of 305 Lexington Ave. early yesterday, died as the result of a heart attack, the coroner's office reported today.
An autopsy performed at the Altoona Hospital this morning revealed that the man had apparently suffered a heart attack as much as 48 hours earlier, the recurrence proving fatal.
The body, when found about 12.10 a.m. yesterday, bore only slight bruises on the face and a small quantity of blood was on the sidewalk. Identification was not accomplished until early yesterday afternoon, then by a son-in-law at the hospital.
Joseph B. Alwine was born in Altoona Sept. 25, 1986, a son of Joseph H. and Margaret (McCauley) Alwine, and was employed as a truck driver by the Lafferty Brothers firm. His wife, the former Margaret Woleslagle, died in January, 1953.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters, Miss Nancy, at home, Joseph N., Lorenz A., Howard E. and Mrs. Shirley Perry, all of the city, Mrs. Marilyn McNaulty of Hudson, Ohio, and William D., in the Army at Sacramento, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, one brother and four sisters, John of Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Phoebe Sweitzer, Miss Sophie, Elizabeth and Margaret, all of the city.
Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton Funeral Home after 7 p.m.
