A 23-year-old Pontiac woman was charged with second-degree murder Friday after police say she caused an accident that killed a 21-year-old woman, a violent end to an argument that began on Facebook.

Torrie L. Emery apparently had been fighting with Danielle Booth, 20, over a jailed man they both professed to care about, said Pontiac police Sgt. Kevin Braddock.

Booth called Pontiac police from her cell phone to report Emery was chasing her and a friend in their car Wednesday afternoon, Braddock said.

"She's like, 'She's chasing us! She's ramming us! I'm scared!' " Braddock described from the 911 tapes police declined to release Friday.

Booth had been to the Pontiac police station to file a report against Emery just a few hours prior to the 2:30 p.m. chase, Braddock said.

Then, when Emery spotted Booth in the front seat of a Ford Focus driven by Alesha Abernathy as the two girls stopped at McDonald's on Woodward Avenue in Pontiac, Emery gave chase with her 3-year-old daughter in the car, Braddock said.

Abernathy ran a red light and her vehicle was hit by a refrigeration truck. Abernathy died, and Booth remained in critical condition Friday.

Judge Preston Thomas of 50th District Court in Pontiac ordered Emery, who also is charged with assault and child abuse, held without bond after the arraignment Friday. Her next court appearance is set for Thursday.
