OPAL MAE GALLAGHER

Opal Mae Gallagher, 90, Waldron, died Sunday at Waldron Health Care Home.

Born Feb. 22, 1910, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of Kyle and Martha (Shirley) Kinsey. She married Victor E. Gallagher on April 23, 1930 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1989.

Mrs. Gallagher lived most of her adult life in Shelby County and in Sarasota, Fla., for 15 years.

She was a homemaker, a food and nutrition judge for 4-H clubs and a home demonstration representative for Public Service Indiana.

She was a 57-year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, a charter member of the first St. Joseph Festival committee, and a charter member and past president of the Zonta Club of Shelbyville.

Survivors include three sons, David K. Gallagher, Kirklin, Paul R. Gallagher, Memphis, Tenn., and Thomas F. Gallagher, Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Revs. John Fink and Peter Gallagher, her grandson, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway, Shelbyville, IN, 46176.
