Manuel R. Escobar, 90, of Fairhaven, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday February 14, 2010 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of the late Maria (Garcia) Escobar, who passed away in 2002. Born in Faial, Azores, he immigrated to the United States in 1959 after the 1957 volcano, residing in Rochester until his illness four years ago. His family was the most important part of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Escobar of British Columbia, Canada, Maria Barrow of Fairhaven, and Laura Hergenhan and her husband John of Fairhaven; his five beloved grandchildren, Elvis Dutra of British Columbia, William Mitchell of Deering, NH, Elizabeth Tamulevich of Bedford, NH, Cari Mailloux and John C.
