JOYCE LEDDY FRANKLIN

Joyce Leddy Franklin, 71, of San Angelo died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in a local hospital after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. A resident of San Angelo since 1936, she was born May 11, 1929, in Brady to early McCulloch County residents, M. L. LEDDY and Mabel Williams Leddy.

M.L. and Mabel moved with their three children, Dale, HOLLIS LEDDY and Joyce, to San Angelo in 1936. M.L. Leddy and Sons had its beginnings
on Chadbourne Street. During pre-college days in San Angelo, Joyce, an accomplished musician, served Trinity United Methodist Church as an organist and choir member. While attending Southern Methodist
University, she pledged Delta Gamma sorority. Joyce and JIM C. FRANKLIN were married Aug. 3, 1947, at San Angelos Trinity United Methodist Church.

Joyce was a devoted wife and mother, always supporting her father, husband and brothers in the family business. She took pride in her participation with the San Angelo Saddle Club and Stock Show Association. She had special memories of her many friends and good times with the Hoolihan of Mertzon.

Her total commitment to her four children was evidenced not only by her active participation in their school and church activities, but always by daily nurturing. She also took pride in her grandchildrens
accomplishments in academics, music and sports. She loved them and her great-grandchildren with her special kind of love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, and brother, Dale. She is survived her children, Marie Robertson and
husband, Jerry, RUSTY FRANKLIN and wife, Melanie, all of San Angelo, Wilson Franklin and wife, Martha, of Fort Worth and Beverly Allen and
husband, Ricci, of Knickerbocker.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jim Herring of Big Lake, Jason Herring of Sonora, Joel Herring of Marble Falls, Jim Morgan Franklin of Aledo and Jed and Casey Franklin of San Angelo.

She also is survived by two granddaughters, Josilyn Franklin of Aledo and Betsy Franklin of San Angelo. Six great-grandchildren, Brittani, Christian, Amelia and Amanda Herring of Big Lake and Kenzie and Koby Herring of Sonora survive her. Survivors also include a brother, Hollis Leddy and wife, Nancy, and sister-in-law, Will Evelyn Leddy; a special cousin, Helen Schafer, as well as very special friends, DeeAnn Franklin and Kathy Petty.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Johnsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Fiero and the Rev. Paul Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, West Texas Boys Ranch or West Texas Rehab. The family would like to give special thanks to the personal caregivers who so generously gave their love
and care to our mother during this past year.
