James Robert (Bob) Albright, 85, was called home by his Lord on July 9, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Bob was born December 16, 1924, in Utica, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Barry) Albright.

Bob was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from U.C.A. in 1942. Bob was a proud Veteran of World War II in the US Marine Corps with over 30 months in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Bob was a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376; he was also a member and Past President of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

On February 16, 1974, Bob united in marriage with the former Kay I. Mengel, the couple shared in a blessed union of 36 years filled with love and devotion. Bob began his work career as a lineman with NY Telephone Co. and retired in 1985 as a telephone engineer, with 39 years of service with Verizon.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Al Savoy of Rome, Pat and Pete Saraceno, Sauquoit, Marianne and Ken Ellis, Deerfield, and Peg and John Luker, Schenectady; and one son, Jack Albright, of Whitesboro. Also, Poppa is survived by five granddaughters, Michelle and her husband, David Montany, Carrie Saraceno, Erica Anderson, Lauren and her husband, Jeremy Bean, and Heather Savoy; also, five grandsons, David Marasco, Peter and his wife, Jessica Saraceno, Brett Williams and Patrick and Cameron Luker; also, one stepgrandson, Mark Ellis; his three great-grandsons, Connor and Brennen Montany and Aiden Williams; and one step-reat-granddaughter, Cassidy Atkinson Smith.

Survivors also include one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Joy and James Lynch, Orlando, FL, and Leo Mengel, Jr., Rochester, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, with special mention of his nephews and godson, Don Adams; and special friends, Arthur and Nancy Burns. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Jack, in 1934; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Donald Adams and Lorine and William Lennon.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin McCormick and his staff, and all the wonderful caregivers in the Willoway Unit at the Martin Luther Home, for all their kindness and loving care they gave to Bob during his stay. By family request, please omit floral offerings.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the New Hartford Fire Department; The Friends of the Lutheran Home, 110 Utica Road, Clinton, NY 13323, or Masses for Bob that will be appreciated until eternity.

The funeral will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, and at 11:30 AM at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, New Hartford. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
