Wyman S. White was the First Sergeant of Company F, 2nd Regiment, United States Sharpshooters during the Civil War. In 1991, based upon a manuscript written by Wyman after the war, transcribed and published in 1979 by his grandson, Russell, the book "The Civil War Diary of Wyman S. White" was published by Butternut and Blue Press and the family. I assisted artist Keith Rocco with the painting done for the dust jacket of this book. It is an excellent read, for those who are interested in the Civil War, and especially the Berdan Sharpshooters.

I was a friend of his Grandson, Colonel Russell C. White, USMC (WWII) until his death. I will endeavor to write as fitting a biography and service record for Wyman as I can. -------- Richard L. Smallwood-Roberts, 8/16/2012
