CREVE COUER - Alice L. Childress, 83, of Creve Couer, formerly of Deer Creek, passed away at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
She was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Great Mills, Md., to George and Rose Russell. She married George Childress on April 17, 1954, in Great Mills, Md. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one infant son, Stephen and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one son, Daniel (Tammy) Childress of Creve Couer; one grandson, Steven of Washington; one brother and two sisters.
Alice was a part time member of Moose Lodge in Pekin and a member of Deer Creek American Legion Post 1276 and East Peoria American Legion Post 983.
She loved country music and dancing. She especially enjoyed listening to Kenny Williams and the Country All Stars Band. Alice was an avid Cub fan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.
