Miss Libbey was the founder of Miss Libbey's School, a nursery-primary school at 5906 Conn. Ave, Chevy Chase. She was the daughter of Frank and Emma Libbey. Her father was the owner of a lumber firm founded in Georgetown in 1824. Miss Libbey attended Mt. Vernon seminary and Washington Normal School and taught in private schools in the Washington area before starting her own school in 1935. She wrote many children's books and play for her students. She lived with a sister Mrs. L. Bainbridge Crist, 3204 Porter St. NW and S. Yarmouth, Mass.
