Grace was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Great Falls, Mont., a daughter of Arthur Teaman and Hazel Faye Giese Teaman. She graduated from Great Falls High School in 1946 and attended Montana State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
In September 1947 Grace met Raymond Cheever and they married in December of that year. They had the pleasure of renewing their wedding vows in front of their children on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997. With her husband, Grace helped start "Accent on Living" magazine in 1956 and worked full time for the magazine while also being a stay-at-home mom.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; past president of the local chapter of Pilot Club International; a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington; and a member of Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, Sun City west, Ariz.
Grace is survived by three children, Sheryl (Rod) Carlson, Bluffton, S.C.; Richard (Jan) Cheever, Silverthorne, Colo.; and Julie (Sam) Lahn, Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Angela (Dusty) Schaffner, Decatur, Ga.; Elise Carlson, Atlanta, Ga.; Melissa (Steve) Enriquez, Prescott, Ariz.; Richard Cheever Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.; John Franch, Bloomington; Anthony Franch, San Diego, Calif.; and Kelli Franch, Bloomington; four great-grandchildren; and a sister Jean (Al) Slaight, Washington state.
Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond on Aug. 15, 1999, and by her parents.
