COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Bill Arnold, 86, of Decatur, Ala., will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Arnold died Sunday, July 25, 2010.
He was born August 26, 1923 in Kentucky to the late William Hall and Maude Gillock Arnold.
Mr. Arnold was a member of the United Methodist Church in Decatur and a former member of Cookeville First Baptist Church.
He was a retired from the U. S. Army serving as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a World War II Veteran; a lifetime member of the MOA (Military Officers Association); and the American Legion. A portion of his military career was spent as an ROTC instructor at Tennessee Tech.
He was active in Scouting in Cookeville serving many years as a Boy Scout Leader. Following retirement, he worked part-time for the City of Cookeville Police Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Arnold.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Josephine "Jo" Arnold (whom he married January 4, 1947 in Madison, TN) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be members of the U. S. Army Honor Guard.
His family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
