Kody Ryan Cates, 20, of Mineral Wells, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, in Dallas following a work related accident.

Kody was born June 2, 1990, in Mineral Wells, the son of Floyd and Jana Brookshire Cates. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 2008 and attended Leaning Tree Church. He was a lineman for a utility company.

Survivors include his wife, Janeth Menchaca Cates, of Mineral Wells; parents, Floyd and Jana Cates, of Mineral Wells; brothers, Kelsey Cates and wife, Shaley, and Kyle Cates and wife, Megan, all of Mineral Wells; niece, Kylee Cates, of Mineral Wells; grandparents, Sue and John Swinney, of Wichita Falls, Texas; great-grandmother, Jean Alexander, of Wichita Falls, Texas; aunts and uncles, Jill and Wayne Bomstad, of Weatherford, Texas, Tim and Edye O'Mary, of Tecumseh, Okla., Johnny and Belina Swinney, of Euless, Texas, and Ronnie and Shelley Swinney, of Fort Worth; cousins, Stacy and Marie Swinney, Angel and Floyd Alexander and Shannon and Scarlet Riojas; great-uncle, Floyd Alexander Sr.; and several second cousins.

Service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells with Pastor Scott Poyner officiating. Pallbearers are Kelsey Cates, Kyle Cates, Justin Plyler, Chelton Gonzales, Ryan Hill and Blake Ralls. Burial will be at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery in Parker County.
