DALTON -- Mae E. Snyder, 89, of Dalton, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born on May 7, 1920, in Winesburg to Fred and Lena (Schmidt) Hostetler, Mae married Guy L. Snyder on May 17, 1940. He preceded her in death. Service will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Dalton Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ralph Fogal officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery in Winesburg. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Online obituary and guest book are available at www.legacy.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dalton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 306, Dalton 44618.A resident of Dalton since 1942, Mae was an active member of Dalton Presbyterian Church, where she was a long time Sunday school teacher. She helped her husband on their dairy farm and was a secretary for his artificial insemination business. Surviving are a son, Gerald Snyder of Lake Wapusun, and a daughter, Eileen (Arthur) Beery of Smithville; grandchildren, Michael Beery of Smithville, Clint (Anissa) Snyder of Shreve, Dwaine (Shelly) Beery of Smithville, Renee (Doug) Hile of Shreve, Bonita (Tony) Bowman and Dawna (Eric) Kohr, both of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Vanna Shanner, Madison and Prestin Snyder, Sharnise, Dorrice, Mariah, Katrina, Heather, Andrew and Nathan Beery, Kendra, Rachael and Tonya Bowman, Adalina Kohr. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Atlee and Carroll Hostetler; a sister, Erma McCartney; and an infant sister, Freida.
