He is survived by his wife, Dewell Elliott Hyatt; two daughters, Rhonda H. Jarvis and husband, Michael R. Jarvis of Acworth, GA; Cheryl H. Carpenter and husband, Charles A. Carpenter of Powder Springs, GA; granddaughter, Tiffany J. Strickland and husband, Cory P. Strickland of Jacksonville, NC; his aunt, Mrs. Minnie Couch of Brasstown, NC and many much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Charles T. and Hattie Hampton Hyatt; his sister, Mrs. Christine H. Penland and his brother, Glenn A. Hyatt, all of Brasstown, NC.
Mr. Hyatt was a lifelong resident of North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Champion Papers in Canton, NC for 46 years and retired at the age of 75. Mr. Hyatt was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church for 50 years. His hobbies were gardening, traveling and attending sporting events.
Throughout his lifetime, and especially during his illnesses, he was an inspiration to his family; he was greatly loved and will be missed until the family is reunited in Heaven.
