The son of James William Mayo and Mary May Shelton..
He married the Love of his life Miss Elsie Katie McGee near Doans Crossing, Wilbarger County, Texas 12 May 1912.
Their 1st home was a two room house at my grandad's farm that was built for all the children to use as their starter home. A few years later he and his brothers took that house down board by board, nail by nail and loaded it on a wagon and moved it across the Red river and re-built it at the old school yard south of Hess where He spent the rest of his life.
Their children:
Infant Mayo
Othel Laverne Mayo
Leon Mayo
Wanda Lee Mayo
William (Pebo)Leonard Mayo
Where to start when you want to talk about this man, he could make the mind of a young man float thru the clouds full of dreams with all the stories he could tell, like how he killed a 20 Indians with just one bullett all the time ridding backwards behind his brother on a wild horse they had just captured from those Indians! How the Goverment needed copper so bad that they melted the copper off his pennies, and he proved it to me by showing me he had silver pennies. he said he was ask to be the Sheriff one time but he thought it would be best for him to stay home and save his own Family from all the Bad men and Indian's ! Like i said he could keep a young boy's mind in the clouds, dreaming of time's gone by!
I truly believe i can say this without a doubt We all Loved him so much because he showed us his Love for us first
He was Truly a wonderful Man! Huspand, Brother, Son and Dad and for sure the Greatest Uncle ever!!!!
