E H Miller Dies of Pneumonia
Former President of American Trust Succumbs

Eugene Harper Miller,aged 70, of 542 North Scott St, former President of the American Trust Company, and a life long resident here, died in Epworth Hospital at 5:10 a.m. today. He had been ill since Feb. 11 with pneumonia.
Mr. Miller was born in South Bend Jan. 30, 1870, and was married in 1896 in Denver, Colo., to Anne Archbold. She survives. Mr. Miller was identified with the American Trust Bank from it's modest beginnings in 1904 until his resignation from it's presidency in 1932.During his active business years he was known to many as "Gene" Miller and was active in the city's business life.
He was active also in several organizations, including the Masonic fraternity;in which he was affiliated in South Bend lodge No. 294,F. & A.M.; the South Bend Camp Fire Girls' council and the St Joseph Valley council,Boy Scouts of America, in both of which he had served on executive boards; the Rotary club and the South Bend Country club, of which he was a past president. He was a member also of the American Bankers Association. He had retired in recent years from most of his activities. Mr Miller was listed in Who's Who.
Surviving Mr. Miller are, besides his widow, two sons, Eugene Harper Miller Jr.,of Milwaukee, Wis., and Richard Archbold Miller,Mishawaka, and a sister, Mrs Robert R Clark, Claremont, Calif.
Friends will be received in the A.M. Russell chapel until the funeral service there at 4 p.m. Saturday. The services will be for members of his family only. Rev. Russell R. Ingersoll, of St Paul's Pro. Cathedral in Mishawaka, will officiate and burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
