Douglas George Cook, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday July 25, 2010.

He was born June 30, 1929, to Clark and Nita Snow Cook. He married FaNon Watson on Dec. 16, 1949, in the Manti LDS Temple.

Douglas was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church callings throughout the years. He was a Priest Quorum advisor taking the young men on campouts to the west desert, Lake Powell, and other locations. He served as a High Priest Group Leader, in the Sunday School presidency, and as a counselor and clerk in two bishoprics.

He is survived by his wife, FaNon of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Meredith (Gerald) Justesen of Chester, Cindy Cook of Mt. Pleasant; son, Steven (Marie) Cook of Sandy; sisters, Edna (Grant) Jensen of Spanish Fork, Lola (Alan) Irons of Henderson, Nevada; brother, J.C. (Judy) Cook of Planto, Texas; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Paula, a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Keith Jorgensen.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses of IHC Hospice. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center, Mt. Pleasant. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, July 28, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant City cemetery.
