The youngest of three children of Elijah Carver and Nancy Boals. He served as a Private in Co. B, Ohio 30th Volunteer Infantry and as a Seargeant in Co. C., 98th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He married Clelia DeFrance Black and was the father of Nancy B., Hannah M., Jennie D., Lida M., Henry James, and Donald Clay.
